Nest and Sparkle is about sharing bits of inspiration from my home life. Although our domestic lives are often private, there is great pleasure in sharing the delights of life at home with people who share similar sensibilities.
I started Nest and Sparkle as a modern-day version of scribbling down a good recipe for a friend after they’ve eaten at your place for dinner. It’s meant to be like those conversations we have about how to plant new things in the garden and what grows well where, and I hope it serves as a digital means to pull people into the garden so they can see what’s growing, even if they’re hundreds of miles away.
We’ve recently moved to a tiny, pretty condo in Vancouver where I’m learning about the challenges and satisfactions of small space living and container gardening in balmy zone 8. Previously we owned a beautiful home in Calgary where I tended to a Zone 3 garden. I’m equally obsessed by plants and food, so cooking and gardening are the dominant themes for the blog. I am a ‘pescatarian,’ which is a fancy word for a vegetarian who occasionally eats fish, and we also have a gluten allergy in the house. No wheat and no meat - vegetarian and gluten free fare are what come out of my kitchen.
I’m always excited to share ideas and hear from like-minded foodies, gardeners and other kindred spirits, so please post a comment or connect with me on the social web if you’re reading through this site and enjoying yourself.
Nothing is more useful for sharing bite-sized bits of inspiration from my home, garden and kitchen than Twitter. Follow me on Twitter at: @nestandsparkle .
I’ve recently created a Facebook page since I know many of my family and friends are not active on Twitter. I add updates there about new blog posts as well as photos and other points of interest. If you “Like” the page you’ll get these updates. Here is a link: Nest and Sparkle on Facebook.
